Sound card problem

Ok, i wanted to see if i could slightly improve the onboard sound of my motherboard, by using a pci-e sound card. My mobo is a Gigabyte G1 Sniper 3 which has these specs;

Creative CA0132 chip
Support for Sound Blaster Recon3Di
High Definition Audio
2/5.1-channel
Support for S/PDIF Out

I chose the Asus Xonar DGX PCI-e card. https://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=SC-015-AS

I only use a 2.1 edifier set up, so not looking for top end sound, just a bit of improvement.

Now when i insert the card into the 4th slot down, the PC fails to boot into windows at all and keeps looping.

Anybody any ideas why it does this? Is it faulty or am i doing something wrong.

I did disable onboard audio too.

Have you tried resetting the CMOS? Also, can you boot into safe mode? If you can try running a program such as driver sweeper to wipe any remnants of realtek drivers.

Yeah tried it all, no drivers left at all.

I tried putting the sound card into a gpu slot and it started messing with the picture settings, so took it straight back out.

That's a strange issue, can you try it on another PC?

Just reading over your first post again, I doubt the DGX will be any better than the integrated creative sound. It looks as though it uses the same chip as the Creative Recon3D which despite being a bit of a flop is definitely better than average onboard audio. I would have bought something like the DX instead.

I think i may just leave it, i was only trying it on a whim, not too bothered really and as you say the onboard isn't that bad.
