Hey,

I've got a Sennheiser PC350 which i use for gaming and I'm thinking of getting a 2.1 too.
I've currently got a Creative X-FI Xtreme Music and i was wondering if it is worth upgrading my card to something like a Auzentech Prelude. Which are the best cards nowadays (my one is quite a few years old 3-4 to be precise) Will there be any improvement?

might be worth a look at the xonar dg, only £27 at the moment, with a built in headfone amp, there's already a thread started on it have a read and see what you think.

upper end of your budget have a look at the xonar d2, seen good things about the prelude as well mind.

yeah, the only thing is I use headphones mainly for gaming so I think I would prefer CMSS-3D, so maybe the prelude.

What price range is the prelude, for some reason I can't find it anywhere on the internet, except ebay.

Actually, Senn PC350 is a high-impedance headset. I don't think an audio card without a good headphone amp can provide enough driving power for it. You can search the posts here and find some great card with headphone amp.

Ok, i read about the new Asus Xonar Xense made for the pc350, shame its not sold seperately atm.

I would rather go for a card with a headphone amp built in, after reading i found the the Auzentech X-FI Forte and the Asus Essence STX have built in headphone amps, but the Asus is quite pricey and I can't find the Auzentech anywhere (says theres a backorder on their website)

If it would be that much of an improvement i would fork out for the Essence, but then no more CMSS-3D. I mostly use my headphones for gaming, mainly Counter Strike Source, so would CMSS-3D support be better than the Dolby Digital equivilant?

*EDIT*
Just read review about Essence STX and it said not good for gamers...hmmmm
