Apologies in advance if this is not anything to do with my gfx card but I need to start somewhere.

Ive connected my TV to my 8800 via a DVI>HDMI cable but I can't get the sound to come out my TV. Im positive I've had sound come from doing it this way before in the past and was wanting to know if anyone had any solutions to this.

My motherboard is a Gigabyte GA-P35C-DS3R but don't think this has anything to do with the problem.

If any more info is needed please reply and ill do my best to help.

Thanks.

the 8800 GTS has no way of sending the sound via hdmi, the adaptor is only to send video. the 9-series have SPDIF pass through and the HDMI adaptors included support audio over HDMI.

^^ not exactly helping him out is it lol

your motherboard has got onboard sound so just connect it up to that, you better off bringing your pc speakers down to the TV and using them

unless you have surround sound system, just plug it into the pcs back sound ports, hoping you have the right connectors

I just run a cable(the one i use for my pc speakers) from my TV to my sound card.

I have an audio socket on the back of my tv & connect it to the green socket on your pc & that should do the trick;) TV is a samsung R88 37"

Hope i've explained that ok

I ran a basic speaker cable from the PC Audio in port on my TV to my sound card (tried every input hole) and so sound coming through.

The sound plays fine when I have my gaming headphones connected to the pc so the only thing I can think of is it must be the cable im using.

I shouldn'y need to change any settings should I? Just prefer to know this before I start hunting for spare cables.

Thanks.

Hi dumbmayhem
On my lcd tv I had to change an option on the menu screen under Audio options, there is a subsection labled 'HDMI Audio' and in this subsection, there is a option for digital or analougue sound. I set mine to analogue and got sound coming from my tv speakers, using the same cable and setup that you have used.

So you may have an option on your tv also.

Hope this helps :)
