Sound from a console.

HI guys,

Recently started using my PS3 again thanks to GTA V however I've run into a slight snag with the sound. I've got the console hooked up to my PC monitor via a HDMI cable and I'm currently using an old set of speakers hooked up to the monitor via the headphone jack built into the back of it.
The only issue with this is that I'm also sat there on skype with my brother, which as you may understand creates quite a lot of noise and feedback for him which can be stupidly annoying.

My question to you guys is: Do you know of any simple way I could route the sound from my monitor and into my PC so that I can hear it via my headset so that it does not disturb my brother.
I have thought a little about it, and hopefully it will be as simple as plugging a cable in via the headphone jack into a port on my machine, then simply lsitening to the device to get the sound from it.
However if there are any other ways of doing this, that you think would be more beneficial for me, that would be great to know.
I do currently own a separate sound card (Asus xonar DG) if that information is of any use to at all.

Thanks in advance,
Headcrab.

Easiest way is to use the line-in on the card, but I think that is shared with the microphone, so that is going to make that rather difficult. If you have no problem with your motherboard's onboard audio, you could connect the headset microphone to that and set Skype accordingly. Monitor headphone output goes into the line-in on the DG, and headphone part of the headset to the out on the DG.

May have neglected to mention that the headset is a pair of Logitech G35s. They plug in via USB so that saves the jack ports on my mobo so would it possible then to go straight from the monitor to the line-in port on the mobo, or would that still cause interference from the microphone? Side question, any particular type of wire I should be looking for? or would a simple wire with two standard connectors do?

**edit**

Thank you for your help thus far btw, both myself and my brothers ears appreciate it.

Should work, if you select the G35 as the listening device in the Windows recording options rather than having the sound output from either motherboard or DG.

Thanks for you help mate, works a charm.

Stopped off at Maplins on my way home from work to grab a jack cable, plugged it in the monitor to the line in on my mother board, set the device to listen to the line in and boom, I now have controllable sound over my Headset. Thanks again for you help mate, I really do appreciate it.
