bit of an odd one this, never really looked into it much. If i play an AVI movie file through Media Player Classic, the sounds starts off at a normal level, but gradually gets quieter throughout the playback. It doesnt do this on DVD's through MPC though, so it might be something codec based.

However, it doesnt do this with the same AVI files through normal Windows Media Player?!

any ideas what i can check?

:)

i'll give it a go. seems to happen on all AVI's though. Might ditch MPC and use something else, only using it for it's integration with FFDSHOW, but there's plenty of others which'll do the same

thanks for the input Basmic :)

weird..

are all these avi's from the same source? try different avi's maybe?

might be worth trying a new ffdshow, or checking sound drivers..

also, scrollwheel down lowers the volume, as does pressing the down arrow i tihnk

yeah different AVI's, does it on my other PC as well, so not sure what it is. i've always assumed it was MPC tbh, as it does the same on both machines. Could be my codecs as i use Kazaa Lite Codec Pack on both, but it's an odd one since it doesnt do it with WMP!

i'm a die hard ffdshow + mpc user (and i'm fussy as hell when it comes to things not working!)

try with that combination perhaps on a new install and see if it works?

i'll try the new codec pack, problem occurs on a new build which is why i've bothered to post about it really, dont think it's down to the PC as it happens on my media centre as well. Will try latest KLCP and see if that helps. Seems to do it on AVI's with AC3 as well as with Mp3 sound
