sounds more like hardware than software, unless you do have the right speaker turned right down in your software for some crazy reason). Check the speakers wires on the motherboard connection.
Also try slightly pulling the jack out of the speaker port and push it in again, also rotate it see if it makes any difference. Sounds daft i know, but if there is a faulty connection the slightest movement can make that difference.
