I have the LG 50PK590 television with 5.1 surround sound system which I got from a popular audio shop, my PS3 and Sky plug via HDMI into my amp and then the amp goes into the TV.

The other day I thought I would plug a USB stick into my TV and watch a film but the sound comes out of the television rather than the speakers. Is there anyway to change this?

currently your amp has no way of getting the audio from a source plugged into your TV. does your TV have a fibre output? (My panny g10 does). you could cable your tv up to the amp this way but you wouldn't get better than dolby pro logic sound.

The tv is plugged into the amp with an optical cord already which I would have thought would have sorted it. Would there be a setting that I need to look at?

FYI, the optical out only supports certain audio formats. For example, it will pass Dolby Digital and PCM from a DVD player connected on HDMI, but it won't pass DTS.

There's a pretty lengthy thread on AV Forums about this telly. Here's a LINK

On my Onkyo amp, i have to specify where i want the audio to some from for a particular source.

Is your tv definately outputting sound through the optical?
