I recently made a new pc ..MSI p965-Neo, P4 3.0ghz, 1Gb Ram, 80gb sata drive., asus ati X1300. Fairly basic. Everything works fine with the exception of the sound during DVD or CD playback. Music and movies play fine from the HDD and a DivX format movie on a CD plays fine. Is just retail DVDs and CDs that have a distorted audio playback...is like a sort of popping/crackling noise.
I am thinking it is the software because I have tried isolating everything and everything seems to work fine. I have tried changing WMP, Power DVD, WinDVD, DivX, audio drivers, CD/DVD drivers.... nothing seems to make it go away.
Any ideas/help anyone has would be appreciated.
