Soundbar for PC

Since my new monitor will not have any speakers I want to get a soundbar. I have looked at the Razer Leviathan, Creative Stage and Panasonic SC-HTB01 and was deciding which to get when I came across comments which concern me about all of them: Whether or not they automatically go into standby when there is no sound input. Clearly this is not a problem during gaming but will be at other times. I don't like the idea that I'll be web browsing and some audio is supposed to be happening and I'll realise that the soundbar has gone into standby. The standby can be disabled in the Panasonic and Razer (firmware hack) but I'm not sure about the Creative. However this does seem to be an unsatisfactory workaround because then the soundbar will stay on after the PC is shut down.

Does anyone have any experience of these or can recommend alternatives? At the moment I am happy with monitor speakers for normal desktop use and headphones for gaming. The low quality of monitor speakers doesn't bother me and of course they are on when the PC is on and idle when the PC shuts down. I want to have an external speaker system which works in the same way.

I tried the Panasonic SC-HTB01and I wouldn't bother. Whilst it's impressive that something so small can make such a big sound (for its size) it's ultimately still a small speaker and sounds like one.

Over the years iv had countless systems, from full stereo amps with bookshelf speakers, active powered speakers (Dynaudio Xeo 2 did sound great), and various soundbars.

Out of all I have owned, the Dynaudio Xeo 2 were by far the best, but then that's to be expected given the price.

I am currently using a Dali Kubik One soundbar as I wanted a clutter-free desk after mounting my monitor on a floating style wall arm. The Dali is wall mounted behind and just above. Looks and sounds pretty good.

I had a creative Soundblaster X soundbar, was incredibly loud for a soundbar and sounded amazing for its size! Just a shame the RGB components of the bar died after 4 days so ended up with a 2.1 system Logitech G560.

Don't suppose you could upload a pic of your set-up, kidloco? Sounds like the kind of set-up I want for myself.

Yep, really can't complain, sounds very good. I messed around with placement before I stuck it there and to be honest, it ain't that fussy about where it is.

I've had a few different soundbars over the years (Samsung, Q Acoustic, Panasonic, Monitor Audio) and this one sounds nice imo.

Don't get me wrong, the Dynaudio Xeo 2 are much better. But for a soundbar that does music, movies and games all very well, and can be had for a decent price on the bay. It's a steal.

I use a JBL soundbar,

Doom Eternal sounds kick ass on it so im happy

also use it for TV during movies and is big upgrade on built in ones

That's good to know. Space is at a premium for me so flexibility with the set-up would be ideal! Thanks again.
