Just run an optical cable from your TV to the amplifier - job done and enjoy![]()
Starting to get a bit less simple.
Ok my honest recommendation? You've bought an OLED TV. Quite a significant investment in your TV, I'd say take your £300 and spend it on an AVR. Hook up your Q Acoustics to it. Then you've got a great base which you can build from if you want 5.1 in future.
I know many say you'd need to spend allot on an AVR to get similar stereo music performance as a quality amplifier, having never owned one I don't know... Then again your amplifier is pretty long in the tooth.
this sounds simple having explained in layman terms.
No, you get rid of the current amp. It gets replaced by the AVR (receiver).
Everything goes in to the receiver (TV, TV tuner, CD player, ipod...) and the receiver goes to the speakers.
The AVR can be switched between the different inputs using a remote control.
had the patience of a saint you have! I'll pop to richersounds on Saturday.
so I can just connect my sky Q up to my tv via the normal hdmi then connect a high speed hdmi from the hdmi arc to the av receiver?
but have a niggling feeling this is only available on Samsung 4Ks
So Sky Q hdmi to AVR satellite input, then run a hdmi from the hdmi 4K outlet to tv!
just a bit of an update, I got the Denon x2300. Fantastic!!! I have my LG Oled and Sky Q all hooked up to it now and wow, what a difference
Thanks again Sprite and all! So happy I have the abolity to add on now for the full surround as and when.Assuming it's this one

as you say it's got some AUDIO IN coaxial (RCA) inputs labelled CBL/SAT, DVD, BLURAY, and CD (you found that one already) which implies line level, i.e. not direct from turntable, so strictly speaking you would want a pre-amp, yes. No harm in trying it though assuming your turntable has RCA out, it might just be quiet. (AFAIK, not really into vinyl.)
You can still use the other RCA inputs for the "wrong" thing, e.g. pre-amp into the one labelled "DVD" if that one's free.
Regarding optical between CD player and AVR - I would base that decision on which one has the better DAC. If your CD player is very good, you want analogue out from it. If the AVR is better, use the optical. "Better" is usually open to debate!
yeah my turntable has RCA outs. It also has a ground cable, but the AVR doesn't seem to have a grounding point (also another reason to get a pre amp - due to them having a grounding point)
nice and simple. I was just a bit worried about plugging it in anywhere as I'd read quite a few people had problems connecting it to an avr and getting no connection.
