Soundblaster Audigy 2 problem

Had an Audigy 2 card running in my old system just fine. When I moved it to my new system I get random lock ups and a horrible screeching through the speakers. Only way out is to reboot.

I have read up on a lot of people having this problem but apart from trying a different PCI slot (which I did) there seems to be no answers. When I remove and switch to onboard sound all is fine so I know its a sound card issue.

Anyone have any ideas how I can get round this problem?

My system is -

A8R-32 MVP deluxe
AMD 64 4g
1g ram
HIS X1900XT

since the 1.84.xxx drivers with openAL I get a lot of errors.
When I back to old drivers is normal, but open AL is used in games so it complicated.
Just try each one and see the difference.

It seems no fix has ever been released as far as I can tell. I guess thats the end of creative cards for me. Not going to take the risk with them anymore.

Trouble is finding a good alternative.

I had a similar problem and downloaded the PAX drivers. Google: "youp-pax"
they totally work. There is also a PAX softmod which will change your Audigy2 to a Audigy4.

Good Luck.
