Souness Sacked

How can a manger do better with the defence he's going to inherit?

Can anyone really see <insert NUFC defender here> being better under another manger

theres more to tactics than that though, take the man city game, he tried to play a center midfielder on the right hand side, and he naturally pulled center, leaving ramage exposed at right back. man city just thundered down the right

Scoring goals is a bigger problem than conceding them.
We just need to play our attacking players effectively - something which Souness was incapable of.
I think Dyer may play some part in tomorrows game , a bit of pace will take the heat off Shearer.

If the correct managerial appointment is made the season tickets will sell out and release funds for the new man to work with.
The new man may also have a team of coaches who can actually bring the best out of players.

Just seen an invertiew with Steve Bruce, he wants the job big time:p
Talking about being a Geordie, trying to get in the Gallowgate End when he was a lad & it being bred in to you etc.
His appoinment should solve all your problems, or B'ham's at least;)

I can't believe Keegans being tipped, he walked out on them, did the same at England, Man City, come on be serious would you really want him back, things not go his way he'd do the same, bugger off lol, be madness to try and take him back.

some people of the bookies list are slightly odd to say the least:
Keegan? no he walked out
Dalglish? no he tried to ruin us before, selling anyone he fellt like
Gazza? no chance
Steve Bruce? no thanks look where Birmingham are
Peter Reid?

Little update on this...

Freddy Shepherd spoke after the weekends game and said he wants to install the fans choice as manager.
Current bookies favourite is O Neil , but current fans favourite is Ottmar Hitzfeld.

Some of the lads connected with local fanzines , toon related websites , forums and the like have come up with this http://www.hitzfeldforthetoon.com/.

Its a great site and from it they have produced a dossier they are distributing to the press. http://www.hitzfeldforthetoon.com/pdf/ottmarhitzfelddossier.pdf

This dossier has been posted in CD-Rom and paper copy format, professionaly packaged, to board members and the club, even Dougie and his father gets a copy. Supermac who dines with Fatty has a copy as well as does prominent members of the local media. I believe FS will also be handed a copy face to face, apparently.
Supermac backed it last night on the Legends radio show also.

The lad who is leading it said
Made Danish Telly

We've made the Swedish media as well, the Swiss media have said they will do a write up about it, the paper Hitzfeld reads every day. He's a legend in Switzerland as a player and as a manager so they see it as news worthy.

Also trying to get it into the main German media, encouraging feedback from some reporters so far like so fingers crossed.

Fair play to them , whether it makes a difference or not is irrelevant - at least we've had our say.
If by some slim miracle we do get Hitzfeld then this lad has a mammoth task of drinking 52,000 free pints before the season starts. :D

Cap well and truely doffed.

TbH with yahs this hitzfeld credentials dont really agree with me to much, apart from the champions league win with bayern all his league stuff aint worth to much.

am not to clued up on the german league but looking at its history it appears to be in the same boat as the SPL 2-3 teams owning the whole league cause the rest of them aren't up to scratch. IMO when its leagues like that i take them with a pinch of salt tbh.

I want o'neill but he dont want the job, fat fred needs to get his wallet out.

READ THE DOSSIER!

What makes you think O'Neil would be better?

I like the bloke , dont get me wrong , but he hasnt really done much management wise and I struggle to see where he gets his super manager status from.
Almost winning the UEFA cup with Celtic was a great achievment as was his work with teams in the lower divisions.

Winning the league cup with an average team and winning the league with an Old Firm side are not exactly miracles.
Souness achieved the same , aswell as an FA cup with Liverpool.

He does seem to get his teams playing at a higher level that is greater than the sum of it's parts, ideal for us as we reguarly have half hearted teams whose parts are stronger than the whole.

I think that's a bit harsh. If anything, the Bundesliga is a fairly open league, probably moreso than the Prem.

I'd say turning a Dortmund side from fairly mid-table, to UEFA Cup finalists, to winning their first ever Bundesliga title, winning it again, and the to CL winners, in just six years, is pretty damn impressive. As is being Bayern's most succesful manager ever. Regardless of how big they are, winning seven titles in six years is still impressive. I mean, Mourinho gets bucketloads of praise for having done pretty much the same thing over just three seasons.

Hitfeld's ability with smaller clubs could possibly be questioned (although given his time with lower league Swiss clubs, I'd say that seems pretty good too), but with Newcastle, he'd have the funds and players at his disposal to be a serious challenge. He's definitely worth trying imo, there's no-one better out there that's available.

EDIT: Steady on, I've been beaten to the reply. Tarnation!
