Source safe alternative?

Are there any freeware alternatives to MS source safe, software that will keep a track of changes to files and let me roll back to old versions?

Try looking up CVS. Not sure if it will suit your needs though as I believe the server side of it may be *nix only although it does have windows clients.

Agreed. It'll take a bit of getting used to coming from SourceSafe but it's well worth it. It's command line based, but to make it a bit easier to use there's a Windows Explorer integration thing (TortoiseSVN) that works really well.

thanks all, tbh I never really used Source safe a great deal. But I need something similar for something Im doing at home at the mo.
