Sourcing Alternative Part (Sensor)

Hello knowledgeable people of all things motoring.

I own a 2018 Jeep Cherokee (KL) which has been in and out the dealers over recent months due to being intermittently poorly (loss of power, limp mode - Message "Service Electronic Throttle Control").

Local auto electrician said they are unable to touch it due to Chrysler software not being available to them.

So it has been in three times, with reasons so far being
"It needs a software update"
"The turbo might be faulty"
"This sensor is dirty"

A few different error codes have come back including:
U1424.00 "TCM - Implausible Engine Torque"
P0299-00 "Turbo Under Boost"

The garage seem to be just guessing at what is going on tbh....

Currently £260 in which was diagnostics and the software upgrade. On the most recent visit, the "new" root cause is that the dirty sensor which was previously cleaned, is faulty and needs replacing. This is the Boost Pressure Sensor.

So looking to replace this. It may or may not work, but will certainly be worth trying prior to exploring a turbo rebuild.....

The garage is quoting me £208 for the part, plus labor, plus VAT. All in, by the time is is done, this broken sensor is likely to have me for £650...

SO - Sourcing a sensor... When I look for the part myself, I get literally hundreds of options, ranging from £25, up to over £200, but I've no idea if these parts are likely to actually work.

The part number is K68275301AA (Mopar) - Boost Pressure Sensor.

What do I need to be looking for to ensure I am getting a compatible part? Or is there a reputable place I can look to source it from? I really dont want to pay over £200 for something needlessly if a £30 alternative will do the exact same job.

Thank you!

can you actually change it yourself ? I speculatively changed a bmw crankshaft position sensor and went for a Hella part <£30 on amazon,
rather than oem £200+, if it hadn't of worked I wouldn't have lost too much, owners forum showed some mixed opinion (lifespan) on the part.

I've used likes of oscaro for part mapping. https://www.oscaro.com/capteur-temperature-de-lair-dadmission-hella-6pp-013-400-021-6146655-3939-p
looks like bosch part for boost pressure sensor is @amazon £40
Amazon (sold/stocked by them !) parts prices do seem to fluctutate wildly so you have to do some checks with camelcamel, but can get lucky,
since it's amazon returns are easy, or if it subsequently failed.

I use a combination of eBay, euro car parts or local car part places.

eBay is a good place you just have to look properly read the description carefully etc.

I managed to get a sump pan for and older mitsubishi on eBay, £90 after trawling the only other place was mitsubishi, £250!!!

I'd do some investigation on how easy that sensor is to replace first, might be a right bugger to access.

But if you can get the part for say £30, and do it yourself without braking the car it might be worth a go, even if your not 100% sure it's the problem, might be worth £30 knocking that possibility off.

It probably is the sensor, it normally is......
