South Korea Jeju air plane crash

Definitely a better chance than hitting that wall, just watched the video again, had forgotten how close it was to the end of the runway.

Yes, it’s quite a way to the buildings and the water with a small concrete wall at the airport perimeter, but a small road and grass for a quite a distance which, as Jokester says, would probably have slowed them down a lot.

Awful, but more than likely not quite as bad as it was I think.

To be honest, from a pilots perspective - shutting down the wrong engine is pretty shocking. If there's one thing that's hammered into you from almost day one, and continually throughout your career is that there are certain things you always check and confirm before you do it. Engine shutdowns being the main one. It's the most practiced failure in the simulator and and is in fact a mandatory item in every check.

Excepting some weird electrical problem such as happened in Kegworth - it's a pretty unforgivable error.
