Southgate named new Boro manager

Shearer > Southgate

what a useless point to make - in what sense? if as players then naturaly although different positions and roles. if you mean as potential to coach then you are simply speculating

the LMA make me sick, some of the worst managers ever are in their ranks.

good luck to southgate i think he will do well, hes a good thinker and very articulate.

the reason the club went for him is because they are worried of big change, not many big managers now have the time or experience to bring through and look after youth players. someone like oneil could have swept all that away and brought in foreign players

I'm guessing he'll be playermanager?
He'll just be manager as he's decided to retire to concentrate on the managing side of things.

I think this good turn out to be a good appointment as he's played at the highest level of the game for a number of years now and has a lot of experience of both domestic and international football.

Although his management skills aren't proven i'm sure he's already taken a few coaching sessions (not the same I know) and he's proven himself to be a good leader on the field.

Steve Gibson has done superbly well with the club - as has been mentionned he's turned Boro around from the threat of liquidation to an established premier league team so i've got every confidence that he believes this is the best possible decision for Boro.

keep up the momentum, of finishing 14th :D
Yeah just who DO you support?

All you ever seem to post in these forums is irritating trollish negativity. Whether it's bashing ManU, bashing Liverpool or bashing Middlesbrough, you're at least consistent, but I can't honestly recall you posting anything:

a) Informative
b) Interesting
c) Positive about a team

I dunno, maybe I'm missing all your worthwhile posts and getting irritated by nothing, but you just always seem to stand out in threads as the person posting the needless antagonistic remarks, and nothing else. I've never jumped on anyone on here before because hell, even the Goldmembers of this world are proud fans of a team and made good comments about something on occasion.

As a point of interest, Southgate won't be retiring as a player, or it would appear not:

Gareth Southgate said:
"I don't think it is feasible to go into this as a player-manager," he said.

"I still have a playing contract and I will keep myself fit because if there was a crisis I might be able to do something that others managers couldn't
