SP120 - overrated!

Ouch, I have recommended SP120's purely on reviews and was all set to get a couple next week, are they really that bad? am now considering the GT's or Noctua NF-F12, sorry to those who may have purchased the 120's on my recommendation and will not recommend anything without first hand experience in the future. STULID! where are you?

So GT's or NF-F12's, which have the better cooling?

Static pressure fan though what do you expect? Forcing air through any kind of grill is going to make noise.

Is it motor noise you are hearing or just air movement. I suspect air movement and that's because they are higher static pressure than most fans out there. Designed for radiators or intake grills.

I must be the only person that likes them :p

When my PC isnt doing much I run them at 900 - 1000 rpm and cannot here them :s Pump is making the most noise. Thats on PWM and 3 Pin versions. Never tried the Gt's but still.

I think you lot are being over fussy about the SP120, they are great fans in my case, i don't see the problem i really don't.

Noise and annoyance are matters of opinion of course!

But have you tried the Gentle Typhoons? :)

If the SP120s were £7 I wouldn't have a problem, but at their current price I don't think they offer very good price/performance.
