SP2500 blown

I don't have that kind of equipment. I will try and find somewhere which can, any big companies which can help with these type of repairs?

Could I not still plug in the fuse with just the one leg off? It still felt stable when the old fuse was in.

That would depend on whether the solder joint has fractured away from the pcb track or if the joint and track have come away from the pcb. In the latter case the track may still be attached to the pcb and it's just lifted at the component hole.

In either case though, it'll probably break the connection but the former issue is the easiest to repair. You may find a local repair shop that could be persuaded to undertake the work but I doubt they would be willing to guarantee anything.

It seems that nothing has moved and I think the solder joint has just been fractured as I can still see the metal joint. All what will be needed is the leg to be soldered back on.
I'd do it myself if I had the equipment.

I could put a new fuse in, it's just the fact the one leg would be missing and the three other legs will make contact.

Even if I get this all sorted, it could have been something else which has blew and could just end up being in flames

That's exactly what I thought, possible the worst luck ever! Took the fuse out and made it worse by the fuse leg coming off haha.
I was gentle with it as well. It's a last resort, I will replace the fuse and see what happens if I can't get it fixed.
I'll do it somewhere well away from my computer of the worst case happens.

Have a great new year everyone :)

It's horrible when you really enjoy something and then it brakes :(
Well I've opened her up and the fuse has gone but the capacitors are damaged too. Some are bent and there's this very strange red/brown solid goo which looks like it's seeped from the damaged capacitors. Something like this image http://i.imgur.com/n2XYclD.jpg?1

Can you check the back of the board if something was damaged there.

Tintin thank you for showing me your thread. This has clearly shown its not just me who felt slightly ripped off by this product. for £200 these speakers should most definitely last longer than 3-4 years.

However, your thread says that your speakers were replaced and not repaired?

Hi sreeve1993 ,

I did not get a replacement, the thread says that I was partially refunded by the retailer. Around 70% of the value I think.

That was not the end of the story. Corsair annoyed me so much with their complete lack of interest that I wouldn't let it lie. I had the electrician who carried out the survey report complete the repairs, this actually only cost about £30, so I was quids in with the refund from the retailer. I continued to vent at Corsair in regard to their rubbish customer service. In the end they offered to cover the repair costs, plus extra on top as a sweetener, not that much could sweeten my experience with them. Quids in, but not happy that my speakers are clearly crap quality and think it is only a matter of time before they give out for good.

Well tomorrow will be fun for me haha.
Corsair literally has done the same to me and others from what I've seen.
In fact a electrician is coming over Tuesday to look at the unit to see if he can repair it and I might just ask him if he can also write up a report for me.
I thought it was all over as my warranty was out of date. Both retailer and Corsair just blew me off by just saying"sorry warranty is over" both did not offer any help whatsoever! :(

Honestly, thank you for your help Tintin82, if you did not show me your thread I would have just let this all blow over. How did you contact corsair? I know they have a free skype number to call. Is this the best way?

No worries, glad to help. Consumers get shafted all the time. The UK SOGA basically states that a product has to perform as reasonably expected, regardless of the warranty. I know a few people who have went down this route and been successful, including my brother who purchased a TV for over £1500 only to have it die 3 months over a 2 year warranty.

Started with a web chat, then I raised an RMA through their website, however this was a long drawn out process that lasted week before my complaint was elevated to someone who actually bothered to listen. I suggest you go in with the big guns first to save time. Where did you buy these from?

Im going to read about it now so I can get a decent understanding of it :)
I will most definitely be going down this route.

Once again, thank you for your help and a happy new year :)

EDIT: I brought my speakers from here
I've already done an RMA which of course was denied haha

Well I feel OCUK really mistreated me on my phone call. The guy I spoke to just put the phone down without a goodbye, or being sincere.
I literally said "thank you for your help" and the phone was put down in a blink. You'd think they'd be on your side as they'd want to keep loyal customers but it doesn't seem that way. Whoever I spoke to said, they'd require a report and then they will contact Corsair themselves, where it would be 50/50 if they'd want to give a partial refund which he said would be 1/3 of the cost. Like £70.

I'm clearly being messed around here and its not on, every product I buy is from OCUK and then I'm treated like this?

Hi there sreeve1993,

I am sorry to hear of the issues you have had with the speaker system purchased from us.

As you have now called and spoken to me directly I will try and do what I can to help and assist with this.

Regards

Bailey
