SP2500 dead

I received my SP2500 as a replacement because my SP2200 system broke. About a month ago my SP2500 made a pop noise and hasn't worked since. I was given an RMA but I have to ship the box to Amsterdam!

A Google search will show there are many having issues with the SP2500.

After my dealing with Corsair I was resigned to be done with them, but now decided to take them on as its a ridiculous state of affairs when you buy premium speaker set that dies after 3 yrs.

I have sought legal advice and have been advised that under the UK SOGA you have up to 6 years to file a claim if an item doesn't perform as expected. This is of course if you can prove the items failure has been a result of poor quality components, and not been subject to misuse.
The fact that the speakers cost near £200 and are marketed as a premium product would imply to myself and a court of law that they should be reasonably expected to last more that 3 years.

So I have commissioned an electronics engineer to write a report into why the system failed. If this proves, as expected that it is indeed poor components, then I shall take the matter further.

FYI It's the retailers responsibility, not Corsair.

Yes, thanks, I am aware that it is the retailer responsibility. However I am conversing with Corsair in an attempt to give them another chance of redeeming the terrible customer service experience I have had with them.

To think my initial request was to pay for the replacement board myself!
All they said is we can't do this, we can't do that, sorry out of warranty.

In customer service there is no such thing as can't, only won't.

Hi guys,

I can confirm that myself and the retailer have come to an agreement where I have had a substantial amount of the initial cost of the speakers refunded.

They applied a bit of common sense and concluded that due to the use of the product I had already benefited from, vs the expected lifespan under reasonable use, I was therefore entailed to a refund under the SOGA.

Really happy how this has turned out. I thought the retailer would provide more help than Corsair, but I did not expect them to be this reasonable. Another reason to add to the list of why I shop with them all the time.

Will not be touching Corsair products with a barge pole though!

So a lesson to us all. If you warranty is over, it is by far the end of the road for claiming a refund!

Ask Corsair to sort out the shipping

At one point when OcUK was clearing their final batch of their 2500, they were only selling them at as low as around £125. So if you got refunded more than that, it is certainly good result.
