Spa Closed and Re-opened

same thing as the morons who complain about parents parking on the road outside my little lads school

The school has been there since the 50s, so dont move ner a sodding school then !

People didn't park their cars there in the 50s, and you should not be parking outside a school anyway really, especially on double yellows (as often happens round here during the morning/afternoon rush).

thats just it

There arent any double yellows around the area. The parents are parking where they are perefectly entitled to, and the people complaining are barely 50 themselves, so the excuse that there wasnt cars in the 50s doesnt wash !

Same thing has happened at brands hatch national circuit. The council made an estate near the track, peeps complained about the noise... and now they are limited to running the short track on most events.

Are people that retarded? seems so.

I was at spa this year, you can hear the gp2 cars from at least 7 miles away as the noise echos around the hills, so god knows what f1's sound like as they are MUCH louder(was at the circuit by that point)

Judging by that last article, its not even the locals that are complaining. In Stavalo town, every bar was full of people eating and drinking so its not like the local people arn't benefiting from the track. Im sure this will get sorted out in the end.

In the UK you can almost have sympathy for local residents (but not quite) but in Belgian countryside, its just farmland for miles and miles around, there's nothing else. The place must generate many millions for the local economy that wouldn't be there otherwise. Amazing these people haven't got anything better to do.

typically belgian!
the council does nothing for two years, and then bans it for 17 year out of the blue

some of the track used to be public roads, and Spa is one of the best tracks in the world so they should all stfu, losers.

there's only about 10 houses around the track anyway. silly buggers

This found it's way over to my inbox today looks like they are fighting the closure.

"Typical, no sooner do I send out the end of year report than the powers that be at Spa Francorchamps finally get their act together(three years after the initial event) and launch an online petition to show the strength of support for the circuit here in the Ardennes. For those not aware, in Sept this year a group known as 'The Quiet Ones' who are folk living near to the circuit who object to the disruption and noise caused by the circuits present operation managed to get the operating license withdrawn till 2026!! I kid you not, 17 years!
Luckily that was overturned and now the fight is on between the two sides, anybody who wishes to support the circuit (please do) should go to www.defendonsfrancorchamps.be where you can register your support electronically, its fairly simple although some of the translation is suspect!"

There's another way to look at it though. Traditionally circuits haven't been used all that often, at most a couple of days a week. With the increase in track days this can now be everyday so to me it's understandable they get ****ed off thought closing it completely just seems wrong.

Why is it that idiots with soft shoes, beards and huge collections of horse porn move close to a race circuit and then complain when they can hear race car engines. The race circuit has been there since pre-war and over the years the cars will have become less noisy too!

If I win a substantial amount of money I'm going to buy a Matra 670 and park outside said horse porn collectors house and blip the throttle all day.

i wonder if SPA beeing in the area adds value to the houses near it.

i'd laugh if spa was closed forever and the area turned into like an ex mining town in britain.

all run down , no jobs and no one wanting to live there

Because people with beards and women who wear suspiciously flat shoes need something to moan about.

Next week i'm going to move under manchester airports flightpath and then proceed to complain about aircraft noise.

I wouldn't, there's a story of a guy who lived under Heathrows flight path. He complained and wanted to sue due to noise etc. Heathrow came back and said that with his house aerial, he was actually infringing Class A airspace. He quickly backed down.
