Escape From New York might fit the bill as might Minority Report, they're both certainly worth a watch.

There's always I Am Legend if you switch off just before the end and read the book oh and Idiocracy for giggles.

Was just going to post this, quite enjoyable of if you accept it for what it is and fits the criteria almost as perfectly as Starship Troopers.

Yes, I Am Legend MUST be watched with the alternative ending, it makes the film a hundred times better, not some copout happy happy joy joy BS hollywood ending!

Thanks guys, ive seen a lot of these films, but theres equaly as many i havent.
Galaxy quest is a great film.
Ive seen the obvious ones like SW 1-6 and ive got the crasy alien box set, the final Alien is by far the best

Never seen Doom though, saw 'the Rock' and stopped right there and then, but will give it a look.

Doom is well worth a watch, but keep your expectations suitably in check. The Rock does a good job and comes across as a badass.

Make sure you get the Director's/Extended Cut though - it adds SO much to the first-person sequence it'll blow you away.

Firstly, I agree whole-heartedly with the statement about the alt ending.

Secondly, I love the way that whenever I read "happy, happy, joy, joy" I hear Ren & Stimpy in my head.
