Space game needed

Different types of game, Sins of a Solar Empire is basically a rts where you build up your fleet of ships, whilst X3 is a first person 'you fly the space craft' game, where you can trade, mine, fight etc, and it has a story to play through.

Depends on which type of thing you prefer.

I've no idea which one I'd prefer, the only space game I played was Eve online.

I just want a good space game really.

Haven't played sins one, but X3 is really good fun if you got a machine that can handle it. Ok, I am a new the whole X3 thing, but found the UI so very very clunky and hard to do what I want. There are probably keyboard shortcuts for most of them, but I never learnt them.

On my 2.3ghz dual core, radeon I think 1950pro or something, it is just below bareable playability level, even taking all graphical settings to off/low, in busy systems I get problems. Saying that, if my pc could handle it, it is fairly immersive.

loads of scripts available to change UI and shortcuts for X3 :)

X3 is effectively Eve:Offline, except you are actually flying the ship not just point and clicking. :)

You might like to pick up Freelancer from a bargain place. Shop around and you might be able to get it for a fiver. It's years old, but it still looks OK, it plays very well and it's still strongly supported by the fanbase. There are mods out that are bigger than the original game, like this one:

http://discoveryfl.com/

It's mostly a single-player offline game, but you can play it online. It's a space combat/trading game with single-player missions forming a story. You can ignore them if you prefer, though, and go trading/pirating/bounty hunting/mining. You can do that in between missions too, so you can do both.

Imagine the classic Elite, but with vastly better graphics, a story, missions, online multiplayer, political factions whose actions towards you are affected by your actions, more ships to chose from, more modifications to ships available...it's still well worth picking up as a budget game.

i've always liked freelancer, that mod looks pretty cool, maybe time to reinstall and donwload the mod.

The space game that has had me hooked for quite a while is Sword of the Stars, it's turned based strategy, with real time battles

superficially looks simple, but actually has a moderate learning curve, has a very active forum, and new expansions coming out fairly regularly.

X3: Terran conflict. I just started playing it. It seems pretty deep but will be rewarding if you invest the time.

+1 eve online is unbelievable, my wife was going crazy when I was subscribed, five in the morning sitting at the computer ha ha!

Haha I bet that went down well :D

Is Terran Conflict better than Reunion? I really enjoyed Reunion, but came across so many game breaking bugs that I had to stop playing! :(

Might give Terran Conflict a blast as I'm off work this week!

TC is a lot better than reunion. Cant think of any major game breaker bugs that havent already been patched out.

I picked up Sins of a Solar Empire a few weeks back. Having a blast with it. I got it for £11.99 but I noticed it has since dropped to £9.99 which is a GREAT price for that game.

If there is anyone here that wants a match online let me know :-)

Oh and the system you have TheBrooder should be able to max out that game.
