Space games like Homeworld 2?

I want a space game like Homeworld 2 :o

Big explosions, nukes, strategy, big battles etc. Not eve online or x3, they are too hardcore.

Ideally it would be great if a real Battlestar Galactica game was made but no, its not :(

Graphics don't really bother me, i want a fun space game :)
 
Grab homeworld 1 and cataclysm. Both great games. Also try the mods for them all, some damn fine mods about.

Freespace 1 and 2
Freelancer
Tachyon the Fringe.

Are some good games.
 
Another vote for sins of a solar empire (inc entrenchment) here!

There are some good mods out there (distant stars, 7 deadly sins, Sacrifice of Angels - star trek mod, and even a battlestar galactica mod!)

Another vote for Sins of a Solar Empire, despite the silly name. ;)

Impulse are doing it for $20 (£12 odd) bundled with the Entrenchment expansion as part of their weekend deals. Bargain.

You are wrong, but that's okay. You're young. Maybe. Play it again, and this time, like it. Also Freespace & Tachyon, though neither is anything like Homeworld. Tachyon is worth it to see space pirates steal the roof of the Sistine chapel, and to get the full impact of Freespace 2 play through the first one. Then you'll understand how scary it is to have the full shivan fleet come looking for their "scouting party".

Do Sins for the closest Homeworld-a-like, but if you're into branching out try GalCiv 2 & Master of Orion 3.
 
So glad the youtube vids list the track credits. Been after the name of that music for ages now.

I tried Sins Of A Solar Empire and lasted about 10 mins. Reminded me more of Hemagora (that's wrong spelling, but can't find game name) than Homeworld series.

Edit:
Haegemonia was the game name.

I remember why i never completed HW2, i just couldnt manouver around the space well enough and actually use my fighters to destroy stuff :/
 
I want a dedicated BSG game like this mod for HW2 :(
