How old is your son? Just let him lose, you'll be impressed how quickly they pick it up.
I had mine completing the likes of Final Fight at 2. By 3 he'd completed the new Mario. He's now 5 and holding his own online on SFIV Arcade Edition, and COD Blk Ops / Halo etc.
I'd actually say, he's a better gamer than me on some things and I've got 30yrs of experience over him. eek
I don't want to get the thread off topic, but you let your 5 year old play an 18-rated game?!
[edit] just noticed you are in the USA and it doesn't have an age rating over there. Odd!

I remember playing that in the arcades before the BBC Micro even existed. There are BBC emulators around so if you can find the game it should be doable.
