Space Shuttle STS-121 - Mission ULF1.1 to the International Space Station

Yup, but those were in a bit more 'delicate' area. Sounds like this one isn't. No pic - I was too engrossed and forgot to hit the 'grab' button.

Few unusual shuttle views:

Not much to write home about today - just lots of hard graft. Tomorrow it gets interesting.

read figures of anything between 16 to 30 mins
It was 59 seconds delayed during launch. A large percentage of that will be shuttle -> TDRSS -> NASA -> TV broadcast satellite (yes, the signal is in space twice) -> ISP receiver -> transcode -> internet -> transatlantic -> UK -> buffering -> you.

When Columbia was destroyed they didn't cut away. Of course, there wasn't a lot to see. If something bad happened up close, I'm sure there's enough time for someone to hit a big red button (certainly don't need 15 minutes for that).

Oops. :o

The two spacewalkers just spent the last 15+ minutes fretting over a tether that wouldn't retract and what they were going to do to work around it, ending up deciding to go back for an emergency spare. With that, Houston says "we'd just like to confirm that the tether is unlocked", to which the response came back "no, it's locked". If NASA have a bloopers reel, that's sure to be going on it.

How's this for awe inspiring:

SRB video on about now for those who liked the clip yesterday

(Sorry for short notice - only just found out).

LMAO - as the SRB splashes down, you can see a bird getting out of the way in a hurry. :D

Just hope the HST servicing mission gets the go-ahead now (decision in October I believe). That thing's still doing fatastic science despite it's age, but it's beginning to fall apart, so it's really now or never.
