Space Trader MMO

OK bit of a difficult one, i'm a huge fan of Firefly and ever since my Elite days (BBC B rulez) ive liked that whole trading in space thing. Ive looked at Eve and the external point and click view puts me off, I was hoping for an internal 'spaceship' feel where you fly with a joystick et al.

Is there anything like this out there? I suppose I would have heard of Elite Online and I now in the far flung possibly vaporware future there will be an a Firefly MMORPG but just in the meantime... anyone know of anything?

maybe freelancer, but thats going back a few years, GFX are average and finding a decent server can be hard (not that you can have that many people on a server anyway)

I would seriously give eve a go. Once you get past the point and click styling is an amazingly deep and interesting game. 2 years on and im still learning. Great fun. Trading is a massive part of the game and can be very profitable.

Or offline games would be egosoft games (x series) or freelancer, darkstar 1, spaceforce, frontier (elite 2) old but still amazing.

Agree with the posters above - stick with Eve past the interface and steep learning curve and it gets really deep. It's exactly what you're looking for, you can play the game as a trader for months without firing a shot.

Nope not Freelancer - you cant play from inside the craft as he wants - freelancer was external only!!

I used to enjoy playing Jumpgate a couple of years ago - I think that's still running but not very many players anymore. Shame as it had a cool flight engine and was great for dogfighting and trading, quite Elite-like.

Another vote for Eve here, I have only been playing for a couple of months and it is an excellent game.
