Spaces before punctuation marks!

I two space after a full stop. Just the habit After 20+years of typing. that's the wya I was taught. html for example will render the 2 spaces as one space so you will never see it online usually. And modern conventional wisdom suggests that one space is enough, if a font is properly kerned etc, then one space is enough.

2 space? as in:

end of sentance. (space bar x 2) New sentance?

THAT looks weird as opposed to

end of sentance.(space bar x 1) New sentance?

EDIT: I just tried to put 2 spaces after the full stop and the forum wouldn't let me, it auto inserts a space after a full stop, if by mistake you pres space bar twice.

EDIT x 2: ARGH! This forum is stopping me type the way I want lol

On any fixed text format, without decent control over kerning then having all the letters mashed up against each other looks poor. It's only because we are now so used to this effect that we ignore it.

Putting a space before a punctuation mark looks OK, it makes it easier to read on a screen which is possibly what the writer intended.

If a 1.5 space was possible then I would use it before a question mark.

I can't listen to your opinions on grammar and punctuation when you spell sentence "sentance".

Adding a space before a punctuation mark is a French grammar rule so maybe the people who do it aren't English natives !
