Spam calls.

I love spam calls it gives me the oppertunity to shout loads of really really nasty vile abuse down the phone and not feel guilty about it one bit,i love it when they fight back. I say bring it on the more the merrier:D

Ahhh, after a bit of googling it turns out blocking of withheld numbers is indeed possible and free from Virgin Media, awesome :)

We have been having these calls for ages. We rang virgin and tey wanted a monthly fee to block unknown numbers.

We used to get loads for about 3 months after moving in/getting landline but they have tailed off recently. Just don't answer if it is an unknown number, but it is very annoying.

I can't help but think - neither myself, nor anyone I know would ever purchase or subscribe to anything offered unsolicited by a stranger over the phone these days or provide their account details to a random marketer they never requested call from. Surely by now, second decade of 21st century, since telemarketing has been the most inefficient method of doing business since at least the 90ies, and considering all the fines, screening, abuse and unwelcome such practices receive, one would imagine no one with exception of third world scammers would even consider cold calling to be part of marketing campaign. Surely the cost of having employees manning the phones must be much higher than a statistically incidental tenner or two some pensioner would be willing to hand over the phone?

So why is this still happening?

Must get about 20 calls a day at work, all of them are automated calls about PPI

At work I get on average 2 a week that go like this:

Hello can I speak to the person who pays the bills?
This is a hospital
So can I speak to the person who pays the bills?
You misunderstand, this is a department within a hospital that employs 7000 people
So can I speak to the person who pays the bills?
That would be David Cameron the Prime Minister but I don't have his number
OK thank you.

I have to be polite :D

What is wrong with

Hello can I speak to the person who pays the bills?
No.
:p

10 mins after i got my virgin cable services turned on i got a call from a collections agency for some guy, they then continued to call everyday, 3 times a day for 2 months. After repeated conversations with the supervisors, the calls finally stopped after i said i would take legal action for harassment.

Guess thats what happens when they recycle the numbers. Same happened over here when i got my comcast service. :(
