So we spent about 2 minutes deciding whether to knock the ball out of play/failing to knock the ball out of play/and then finally agreeing who and where to knock to ball out of play and there was nothing wrong with Di Maria?

My point wasn't about the play acting, more to do with the unwritten rule about knocking the ball out of play when somebody is down. Either do it or don't but instead we usually have a situation where nobody knows whether to do it or not and half the players stop playing etc and we waste time.

We had a similar incident at the start of the Liverpool game today.

Rules of these matches:

If Busquets, Alves, Di Maria, Ronaldo or Ramos goes down, it probably wasn't a foul.

If Pepe's involved - its most likely 100% a foul.
