Spanish Football 2011-2012

Best game barca have played was at the emirates mate.

Just shows, u put two teams who dont give a crap about defence/negetive football and u will see a great game of football

nowadays arsenal are like watching paint dry. Spurs vs barca would be the game to watch

I'd say the 5-0 was the best they have played, certainly the most enjoyable one.

Best game I've seen Barcelona play was that 5-0 against Real. It could have been any side from any point in history against them that night. Barcelona played as good as it was possible for themselves to play. Amazing.

hehe, well though Pepe has been more enthusiastic than vicious lately, tonight goes down as almost on par with his stamping on the guy a few years ago. Apparently got punched in the face by Fabregas, hopped around on the wrong leg after Fabregas barely touched him and was clearly going for the ball, the stamp was unforgivable and very obviously on purpose, even Alonso who is happy to elbow anyone went over to check he was all right as Alonso was standing there watching. That should have been a straight red, he got a deserved yellow and he could have honestly got another 1-2 yellows on other occasions as well.

Alonso was both useless throughout and a dirty cheat, can't remember who it was against, I think Alves got a very cheap freekick against someone and after the whistle went Alonso came in and smashed into him. Then you have the deliberate elbow and a bunch of lunging tackles.

Oh well. Second El Classico in a row that Diarra on the pitch, Messi is in his pocket, Barca look far worse in midfield, Diarra gets taken off and Barca get to work and Messi comes alive.

I have no idea how Alonso starts and Diarra gets taken off in games like today.

Barca didn't even play particularly well, at any stage of the game, moments of genius but not the same fluidity, been saying it for a couple months. For instance in that 5-0 whooping of Real the attacking trio just ran against the back four and Xavi/iniesta/messi would play balls in behind the defence all game long. Today and lately the runs have been happening pretty often but the passes haven't, 3-4 killer runs Xavi perfectly ready to play a ball in behind but he went sideways instead.

Ronaldo, yet again starts off looking like he might contribute to the game and fades away to nothing.

Agree! its amazing :)

As others said, wouldn't blame Ronaldo, he worked hard, made tackles that made Alonso look stupid, won the ball, but when the whole team backs up into their own half, shoots him a long ball and want him to take on several players and score himself...... the team let Ronaldo down, not the other way around. When the rest of the team were attacking, Ronaldo looked good, got a goal, movement was good, was winning the ball. When the rest of the team disappeared and got more focused on fouling than playing football....... Ronaldo barely got the ball let alone could do anything when he did get it.

Just caught the highlights of last nights game and have to say, Pepe is possibly the worst, dirtiest footballer i have ever see play...how he got away with that stamp is beyond me....i swear Spanish refs must be blind not to see that Pepe is a utter utter little **** especially when things dont go his way.

Shocking stuff from that knob, no surprise that Mourinho has a hard on for him:p

Pepe is a disgraceful thug who shouldn't be playing football, he's going to end someones career one of these days, he's not safe. Him and Mourinho deserve each other.

The last few encounters have developed a bit of a recurring theme, continuing last night:
Madrid get the first goal
Madrid fluff a great chance to score another
Barca equalise and go onto win

In addition to being a ridiculous cheat and generally unpleasant person, Pepe was also to blame for the Puyol goal (which up till then had seemed like it might not happen). I honestly think Madrid have an inferiority complex going into games against Barca now, because most weeks other teams who are clearly more rubbish manage to give them more of a game in the 2nd half. Madrid do this 'start bright, 1-0, concede so it's 1-1, fall apart' thing now and I'd bet it'd probably happen in the 2nd leg too.

Aye he had to feed off scraps in the 2nd half. If Benzema (useless) had put that easy header in then I'd have thought they'd have had the confidence to keep on attacking in numbers... but instead you felt like the knew that missed chance meant 'that was it' and sure enough they ended up giving away silly goals.

According to marca serious cracks are appearing in the real madrid dressing room. Some players are becoming vocal in their unhappiness with mou. A spanish camp and portugeaus camp have been created in the dressing room, with the spanish camp complaining that only the spanish players get stick from the manager.

I get the feeling that unless real win the cl, mou will be given the boot, even if he wins the league.

It was a spat with Sergio Ramos and Mourinho after the Barce game? I think Ramos changed the game plan and didn't mark Puyol for the corner or something and Mourinho was happy after the game

Thats part of it. In the training session after the classico, mou mentioned that, ramos explained that due to pique and puyol providing screens for each other they had to change man. Ramos then went on to add that as mou had never been a player he wouldn't know why they had changed.
When there's trouble at real the 1st indication is leaks to the press, its happened many times before.
