On tonight at 10 on Bravo. ;)

If you haven't seen it yet definately watch it!

Maybe this thread won't be deleted like the last, so I guess we need to make sure we don't talk about episodes that haven't yet been broadcast!

What has been broadcast in the UK? I love this show, started off slow but gets soooooo good.

The first episode is on tonight so nothing yet. :p

The sex scenes are pretty aweseome I hear!

And the fighting scenes. Think 300 but more extreme. :p

Bravo are making a big push with this, must have spent a load of money on it tbh as i've seen posters up everywhere for it.

Viva la Viva!

I'll raise you a HD version... ;)

Personally I prefer Spartacuses wife and the brunette who appears a few times in the later episoded. Nom, nom...

As for swearing, you get used to it and I think it does "help" the program. Instead of having a sanitised version it seems to be a more "real" version of what would actually be happening at that time (complete with the gay kissing and sex, from both sides)...;)

Well yeah, they probably spoke in Latin, but latin swear word would probably be a bit odd when they are speaking English the rest of the time. :p

Swearing (especially those two words) goes part and parcel to that sort of "life", just look at soldiers now, they all swear like troopers...

Exactly it's a bit like him being an amateur sprinter running for a local club, far faster than the general public and most other club runners but when he gets to the olympic athletes he's left for dust. Makes sense to me.

Also so this thread doesn't go the same way as the others, try and keep the spoilers out of it for people who are watching it at the UK rate. :p

I like more to my tv shows than boobs and blood.

Seriously you need to get some Titus Pullo in your life

Personally I found Rome rather boring. Bit like Eastenders set in roman times from the bits I saw.

As for the acting I think it's not that bad. As said earlier the best series are those that draw you in and make you think of them as real people not just actors. Spartacus does this and, especially later in the series, it really makes you feel for the characters. I found it far better than the Pacific for that, that was just a load of people killing in the dark, no character connection at all.

Just watched the first two episodes and the Acting and blood was a bit poor in comparison to later episodes I have to admit. I think they get into their stride a bit about halfway through the series with regards to acting/CGI/blood.

It's one of those series that every eposide is better than the last until you get to the last two where "WOW!". ;)

Think I may go watch episode 3 in a minute, if I can find my headphones...

EDIT: Nope, going to have to watch it tomorrow... :(

He wouldn't suit the character either, he has "too much" presence. I think Hannah is regarded as one of the best casts by most people. Again, trying not to give anything away the further in the series you get the better you realise he is casted IMO. He's not meant to have presence as such, as Robbie said, he's meant to be a bit of a slime ball/snivelling rat bag.

Loving this.... told my misses to watch it while i went out, said its like gladiator.... she's now in love with Spartacus the guy and the series!

And there's the thing. There may be lots of boobies and "down there's" but there are just as many boobies and winkies of the blokes... Equal opportunity nudity.:p

a show like this has been long over due. one of my fav shows its a pity pacific wasnt this good

I agree. I watched the first 4 episodes of The Pacific and then got into this. Haven't watched the rest of The Pacific since, just sub par compared to this.

all my wifes friends are becoming obssesed its going to be the next "twilight" at this rate...

hopefully the producers dont start marketing the second series towards women.

Because there isn't enough topless men and winkies on display in this series? :p

Such a shame.:(

Also typical really, seems any US programs I like are either chopped or unable to carry on whereas all the **** like lost and the west wing that carry on for a million series do.:(

West Wing... ****... dear me, somebody doesn't understand the caliber of writing Aaron Sorkin brought to Television with this series.

you might not have liked the premise for the show, but to call it **** is a bit far, especially when it won so many awards, the modern day equivalent of the west wing is today's Breaking Bad and Mad Men, they are the only shows that have come close to being as intelligent with their writing as Aaron Sorkin managed to sustain for 4 years.

and for those hoping they'll postpone production, it's not happening, he announced he was Leaving Spartacus which means its either going to be a likely recast for Season 2 or a season without the title character (highly unlikely) :(

Shame it was boring as sin, which matters more to me than awards...:p

Not sure how I feel about a new main character, guess it will be like all programs that do this, in a year or two, after watching the whole new series we will think the original cast was odd.

There won't be two Spartacuses runnning in tandem. The new second series hasn't started recording yet and is set for broadcast at the end of this year or early next year. The prequel is on now and is only six episodes I think, so will end in February, and is designed to show what happens up to the start of season one.

They made the prequel to fill the gap so the original Spartacus could get better, unfortunately he hasn't.
