Hi guys - I'm in the market for some new spearker cable. Any recommendations - Just some mid range cable to complement my setup.

Setup currently is -

Musical Fidelity 3.2 amp
B&W CM2 Speakers
Linn LP12 Turntable

Anything you want in particular?

Cat 5 can be used if your on a budget, however I suspect you're after a named brand?

I suggest trying the QED Silver Anniversary XT stuff.

I would stay well clear of the QED Silver Anniversary XT cable, I tried it and found it way to harsh.

I found Chord Rumour II to be a great cable, detailed yet not harsh at all, its £10 a metre.

On a tighter budget VanDamme Blue Series Loudspeaker cable is good, can be found for around £2 a metre.

QED Anniversary here.

Sounds fab with my little Onkyo cr515 and Q Acoustics 1010's in the study.

Would I hear an improvement if i upgraded my cable from my Gale £1/M to something like the van damme?

Depends how good you are at convinving yourself you can hear the difference, Speaker cable doesn't make a massive difference especially if you have reasonably low end kit (sub £1000). I've played with all sorts and never heard what I would describe as a big improvement.

Has anyone ever tried anything like 20amp cable flex. Not tried it, but i'd guess it would work quite well.

Silver anniversary biwire is what i use! Great stuff.

Summary:

Negative - God awful to strip as it has a hard plastic casing.

Positive - That casing protects the cable very nicely, price is reasonable and the sound makes up for all the hard work taken to terminate it!

Resolution, imaging, speed and slam at a reasonable price! :D

Another vote for Chord...its all good.

I have Linn K20 cable in my set up as follows:

Linn LP12/ Cirkus/ Valhalla/ Ekos
LK100 (power)
LK1 (Pre)
Karik
Linn Kan speakers.
