one of my pc speakers has just started making a loud hissing noise. It is only a 2.1 speaker setup and the other one is working fine.I can just about hear audio over the hissing noise if i play a cd etc.
Anyone any ideas ?

thanks

I would presume either a wiring/connection problem or a problem with the amp (presuming the speakers have an in-built amp. Plug a pair of headphones into the socket to make sure it's not a problem with your sound card/motherboard etc, if it isn't then it might be time to buy some new speakers.

Narrowed it down to my creative x-fi soundcard :( put an old souncard in that i found, and all is fine.

thanks for the reply

If the sample rate on the X-Fi has changed to 44.1, try using 48 instead. It seems to remove a lot of issues my Soundblaster can often have. :)
