Speaker Layout Ideas

So in short setting up my AV system in the living room in my house and i'm not sure where to put the speakers. I've got a Sony STR DN1040 (7.2) and currently run a 5.1 system off it in my bedroom (at my mums). Will have engineered boards put down soon and the skirting around the room so i'm hoping i can get away with tucking the cables down before the skirting.

Any recommended speaker positions and cabling?

You will find it very difficult to get decent results with the TV in the corner. Any way to put it on a normal wall?

Well actually I'd sacrifice the radiator and put the TV on the wall.

Well that radiator isn't there any more, but thre is a window above it with patio door next to it so i could pull it out a bit and i'm planning to get some good blinds.

I can see the speaker at the end of the settee being an annoyance, could move to the left of the desk, does your av have auto setup/equalization

Are you referring to what looks like the subwoofer in the corner? Which will likely cause an awful echo boom. As well as bouncing off the unit.

I had been thinking about putting is there instead as well. Was just easier by the settee as I wouldn't have to cross a door but if it is likely to be better than the other position I will put it by the desk. And yes it has auto set-up.

Yeah that's a sub in the corner, not sure where to put it. Its a bk gemini 2 if that's any help.

No I was referring to the TV didnt see the sub!
