Hi all, looking at buying some cheap stands for my Onkyo Rears. I seen the ones on Argos for quite cheap, just wondering if anyone has them and will they fit my speakers?

If not any other cheap ones around I could get that would fit, mind that they need to be cheap and black :)

are they satellites? if so you have 100x more choice and can use most cheaper ones. most small speakers have a standard mounting system on the back.

im struggling to find something for my B&W surrounds as they are fairly big and the ball mount brackets i bought for last house just couldnt handle them (even though they said they could handle more weight)

I had to fork out £200 for a pair of matching stands for my b&w M-1! The speakers cost me less!

Yea there small rectangular satilites. The only issue I have is with the £20 jobs of eBay don't send to where I live and they look a lot better and nicer than the Argos ones.

the mind boggles - who would purchase a pair of stands that cost more than the speakers?

It's either that or not have the stands. The speakers were ex-demo so half price, stands were new so full price.

It's not your normal stands with a metal plate at the top, these are screwed onto the speaker with the cable thread through in the centre column. And I also need something that takes up minimal amount of space. If I had the space i would have gone with some 686 with proper stands and works out about the same!

Think I'm going to wait until the weekend, A new Argos store is opening in town. So that will make it easy to return if there not fit for purpose :)

for satellites i liked the little 2 piece ones that have a top and bottom. you attach the bottom to the wall then position the top at the angle to suit and screw down.

i havent used satellites for years though

@Shades.... sometimes you dont have many options. im planning on wall mounting my surrounds but they are £500/pair and very heavy. not many brackets can cope.

if i dont use brackets i will have to drop £200 for some 1m+ stands as lower ones arent any good for me, personally.

Thanks for the info, however I can't wall mount them due to the big space behind the couch has our dining table etc behind it. The plan being that the stands will be behind the couch at either corner... Hopefully, as they may become a trip hazard haha, will have to see what the wife says. Worst càse senario sell the amp and speaker and go stereo :(
