I know, I know, low budget. I'm not an audiophile. :p

Need a pair of speakers to wire up to a Cambridge Audio A1 amp (probably this amp anyway). Wants to spend £50 or less, generally just looking about on Ebay to see what there is, but I've NO idea what's good and what's not.

So, if you had £50 for a pair of speakers, what would you get?

Usage? Its just for the PC. Anything is going to sound better than the freebie Logitechs I have on it at the minute.... they whimper at the first signs of a little bit of bass. :D

You'll probably hear the words Mission and Tannoy mentioned a couple of times here...

Well I got my Cresta 10s new for £50, which was a bargain but probably won't help you much :p

Best bet is second hand, Tannoy M1s for example.

Any other specific recommendations? Just lining a load of these up on Ebay, and seeing if I can snipe in on one before it ends.

Forgot to bid on the amp too....got a few more coming up but days away still. Is there any other similar amps to the one I mentioned?

What's your max budget on the amp?

Hadn't really given it much consideration, was just recommended a couple of amps to keep an eye on which I then proceeded to forget to bid on. They seem to have ended between £50 - £80 though on the amps, so around that and I'll be happy.

The only real reason for getting one is that my old Hi-Fi is dead (was cheap anyway) and the vast majority of my music, etc, its on my PC (indeed previously, I had the PC hooked up to the Hi-Fi, and it was rarely used itself) so I figured I may as well hook the PC up and forget about a replacement Hi-Fi altogether.....does that make sense?

I'd look at second hand, you should be able to get a pair of (when new) RRP £200 standmounts for £50, and certainly will sound better than a £50 brand new set of speakers.

Hmm having auditioned budget(ish) Kefs when looking for my speakers, I would not reccommend their lower- end models.
