Hey, basically I am looking for some advice on a decent speaker setup for gaming. I know a lot of people will say headsets are better etc but I cannot use a headset as I suffer with my ears. I have been looking around for a while now at 2.1/5.1 and so on but i feel for gaming purposes 2.1 is better but I could be wrong.

I recently noticed these on offer

Well 5.1 is only worth going for if you can place them correctly. Unless you can place them correctly, 2.1 or stereo would be the better choice. If they are for gaming and that alone, then 2.1 might be better, as you will more than likely miss the extra bass from a stereo set of speakers. Edifier R1600T are very good speakers and a very good buy at £55, but they more than likely excel when music is more the main concern. Some people do use them for gaming and find them fine, but I have seen some comment they do miss them not having a subwoofer.

Yeah I have read a few reviews about them lacking on base, of course ill be using them for a mixture of movies/videos/music but the main reason would be gaming.

Have owned their baby brothers 6Cs and they were amazing. And I got to hear them and the Corsair SP2500s in person as my room mate had them and we both agreed the 6Cs produced better bass even without a subwoofer.

looked at the Logitech z506?

I find Logitech to be the best for pc speakers,or the z906 if you have a large budget

Yes I have actually been looking at the z506 but the microlab design is really eye catching, kinda dumb though to buy speakers off there design.

if you really want the best gaming experience then 5.1 are the ones to go for, driving games ect where you hear the cars approaching from behind

same for enemies in shooting games ect

Yeah true, do I have to place the speakers all around me? Because currently that is not possible for me.

What kind of budget do you have in mind?

The Corsair SP2500s can be pretty good for gaming use (seems to be their strong point IMO) though I'm not so convinced by them for music/movies (not that they are bad there but there are cheaper speakers that do it better).

EDIT: Not sure I'd use the Edifier R1600T primarily for gaming - the neutral response can come across as distinctly flat for gaming use which takes away a bit from the immersion.

No more than £110 (I am pushing it with that), I have read some reviews where they say the Mircrolab 7c are better than the Corsair SP200s. Yeah after a bit more research into the Edifier R1600Ts I agree they are not what I am looking for.

Well the best way to find out is to listen for yourself. So I would start off with the R1600T if you're happy with them then you have a winner.

If you have the space then by all means go with the solo7c if not then the 6c wouldn't be a bad option either
