Hi guys,

Got strange problem here. When my speaker jack is plugged into the back of my audio motherboard slot, only one speaker will work, however, if the jack is only half way plugged in, both speakers will work.

Is this down to a faulty motherboard?

Cheers

Sounds like a faulty socket.

When it is plugged half way in, you are actually plugging it as if both speakers are connected together as mono. The socket must only have 2 contacts working instread of 3.

First test it with another headset to determine whether it is the socket on the headset or the motherboard. I've had this with a few headsets when they get older.

I've tested it with 3 sets of speakers and my iPhone headphones mate. I think it's safe to say it's a faulty socket.

I'll just buy a cheap sound card, should do the trick!

Thanks guys.
