Hi all,

Thoughts on a spec for ~£300-350 for my parents? Will be used for Office, light internet usage, and Skpe. Not a lot else. Onboard GFX will be fine.

Don't need a case or monitor.

I have an oem version of vista 64 - assume I can use this on this build as well (legally)?

Many thanks in advance for any spec suggestions.

you can only use this if it is not already installed on any other machine mate...spec coming up....

OEM windows is tied to the board it was originaly installed on, new motherboard new license required.
You can upgrade any part bar the motherboard.

Retail allows you to install on any system belongs it is unistalled from the last install.

Recomendation is for a gfx card then, not on board? Why?

Spec would be suitable for HD web cam I assume, as this is something she is after?

most half decent boards dont come with on board graphics, and i could fit it into the budgrt, complaining.? :p will come in handy when your watching HD movies etc later on if you want/need too.

and yeah HD webcam will be fine mate :)
 
You'll obviously need an os to install on it too if you only have an oem version of vista?

Kenny why do you keep suggesting the corsair modular psu? there really is no need for such an expensive power supply for a pc that's mainly going to be used for microsoft office and light internet browsing, it's pure overkill.

There is also no need for 1066Mhz memory, 800Mhz is adequate.

and that is a top quality power supply. - quiet, less likely to blow on you, (if it does blow less chance of taking out anything else with it)

you you read these forums.?

with a decent budget you would always invest in a decent power supply coupe69er
