** Spec a Gaming PC**

so many people do not seem to get the point, if you are going over 1024res then get a gtx not a gts or gt :D the gtx performs a lot better at these resoloutions. and with a 22" or 24" screen, you will be playing above standard res i would have thought.

regarding penryn cores, you wont get one within this budget.

Ah just noticed the P5K mobo series from ASUS. Anyone got one of these and how do you reckon they would go with somethin like jaffaa's spec for overclocking? Or, possibly the striker series?

Nah, I wouldn't go dual core :P Quad all the way.. Just need a GOOD mobo to overclock it. I'm willing to spend quite a bit as I'm not planning to upgrade mobo any time soon :P So It needs to be like, overclocking proof and cabable of running future hardware efficiently.

you have to make a decision then, if you want future proof then you need ddr3, in that case you either reduce the ability to overclock slightly and get a ddr2/ddr3 mobo instead of for instance a 780i board, or you can go and get ddr3 now and spend the extra 100 quid getting ddr3 instead instead of ddr2.

of course get a board that supports 45nm technology and one that has pci-e 2.0 :)
