** Spec a Gaming PC**

Quad will be the better purchase, doesnt really matter if the extra cores wont be utilised it will outperform the C2D range.

also the 3850 pro will not be a good idea with a 24" monitor, you will get low frames in coming games and most high end current.

for 1300 you should be getting a quad core minimum and atleast a GTX, if not then you should wait a month and get the new card. do not get a GT or GTS for this kind of money.

the samsung pebble is an amazing monitor. ill post another spec, with changed things too suit you.

whast kb/m do you want? thast all i need to know. now that youve got your case

You might wanna remove that link and pic of a competitor to Ocuk.. Doing so is bad and you get your wrists slapped by the Dons.

Or worst

Ah ok sorry for the link ^_^

And yeah.. Anyone got/used a Samsung Pebble? It looks pretty nice..

Also, with regards to shaffaaf27's post.. kb/m doesn't really matter at the moment.. just nice gaming/multimedia ones without the amazingly high prices ;)

EDIT: Yay.. Just ordered my case ;D

My mate's bought the Samsung Pebble and really likes it. A good monitor.

And I own that case - it's great!

Yeah! The case is awesome.. When I first saw it I didn't like it, I must admit.. But after a while it grew on me and now I love it lol!

And yeah, I'll probably get the Pebble then ;)

quad core, 4gb pc8500, 8800gtx

with 200 spare so when the new gfx cards come out you can flog the gtx and get the new card.

board is ddr2 and ddr3 so you can upgrade as you require, and a 22" high res monitor with a very good contrast ratio! better than most of the others!

Hey up Shaffaa! Nice spec there actually.. Is that the best quad for that price range? Obv I dont want to be paying another over £200 ;P

And again, Intel recommended over AMD bearing in mind I THINK there's a new chip coming out soon.. Maybe Im mixed up with something ;P

EDIT: I'm just confused.. You guys are saying quad.. however some of my friends tell me that quad is useless atm for gamers and that dual is better.. Hmm. Yes I am a first time PC builder - You gotta start somewhere! ;) So yeah, I'm after all the advice I can get.

Oh btw, I wont be using the PC JUST for games, I'd be playing music, browsing the web, coding, games, dvd's etc etc. So I dunno ;P I like speed..

yep thats a quad. quads have better results in games. also much more games are starting to use all for cores now :o

also its a very big future proof chip. yes the peryin core 2 Quads are around the corner, so id advice to wait, by then x38 boards would have dropped in price and you could get the peryin C2Q with an x38 mobo, for about the same price.

this PC will LAST, and will OC like a dog's nuts.
