Appreciate your guys input here.

Long time PC user that due to work issues is having to invest in a laptop (boss wont get a replacement for a dying PC, so I need my own thing - got plenty desktops at home, need something to go between work and home, ie laptop)

Anyway, for some reason last week I went for the plunge with a macbook aluminium with warranty etc (2.4 ghz, 2 gb ram, 250 gb hd, 13.3 inch screen) - the idea behind it was that some work progs are still mac only, so stupid me thought will get a mac, install windows on it, and have a third partition for my documents that both osx and windows can see.

Outcome is that OSX and Windows work on the machine, but having another partition that has to be FAT only blows.... Isnt going to cut the mustard.... *know there are other solutions, just made decision tho, mac going :D

So I would like to replace it with a PC laptop and say balls to the mac stuff at work ;) lol

So much choice - have little idea where to start.

So anyone got any suggestions for a similar spec pc laptop :
2.4 ghz cpu, 2 gb ram *prefer 4, 250+ gb HDD, not worried about blu ray tho dvd writer would be nice. One thing would be the looks, I know, superficial eh, but really dont like anything too plasticy - you know what i mean ;)

Price wise, anything around 800ish

Cheers in advance for your advice :) Macbook will see ebay again :D

Dell e4300 sounds ideal: powerful, 4gb, light, magnesium case, stylish (illuminated keyboard to boot), dvd, and also dock support for lugging between home/work.

Can be had for well under £800, trouble is if you have to go via dell due to work they're well over £800.

Is that right link you've posted? The guy asked for a 13.3" macbook replacement that he can use between work and home; the link is a 18.4" slab of a laptop that weighs more than I do.
