Spec a soundbar / 5.1 solution.

On the 2700 you can turn the bass down by the remote tbh I imagine you can with any Soundbar and separate sub.

I have set the 3 memory settings on mine with one for night viewing, Normal viewing and Movies or full on mode as such.

I'm not even sure at low it will be enough? Based on the fact at night I can hear her turn off her bathroom light (one of those stringy pull down ones). So I imagine it won't take a lot for sound to travel through the floor.

Fair enough one of the all in one ones might be a better option. The Q Acoustics one is pretty decent I had one for a bit.

Is there room for expansion with those? I think I'm going to pick a soundbar where it can link with rear speakers and then buy a subwoofer at a later date when I have a house that is more suited for it (probably will move next year or so).

It's called a av seperates system ideally minimum £100,000. For one jar of magic pebbles, alone.

Your best bet is headphones.

Seriously you live in a flat with someone below you and someone next to you.

Headphones. Especially if you can hear them turn lights on and off.

Then when you move out buy a soundbar or seperates system.

As above really either headphones or tv sound for now and then buy something better when you move out and are not so restricted. Even cheap soundbars or AV setups are going to have Bass. As I mentioned with the 2700 you can turn the heavy bass effectively off if you desire but it seems a little bit of a waste spending on something to get better sound then gimping it.

I agree completely pointless and overkill if his walls are paper thin and he isn't in a detached home.

I had a party right after christmas and surprise surprise the only guests who lived in a semi detached asked if my neighbours ever complained about the noise of my 5.1 setup being too loud (was playing music). I live in a detached home so it's of no issue. If they can hear it, it's not going to be very loud or enough to be of any major disturbance.

But you can see why alternatively they use tv speakers. However they could see how much fun a proper sound system was. In terms of quality, enjoyment and social events.

I live in a semi-detached house and have an ATMOS system and surprise surprise my only friend in a detached house asked about my sound system and could see how much fun an ATMOS system is over a 5.1.

Sonos Beam as a standalone soundbar, then you can decide to add Sonos One's and a Sonos subwoofer at a later date to give more surround audio if you so wish.

My dad has atmos. Only thing that supports it is movies on sky cinema and even then it's only some of them. It's useless 99% of the time.

Out of 100 things I'd watch maybe 1 would have atmos sound.

So completely overrated.

Obviously your dad doesn't live in a semi then.

You do make me laugh, especially your descriptions of black levels on an XF90 in DV mode (I assume through Netflix which 9/10 is also DA enabled).

Loads of stuff on Netflix has Atmos my tv keeps telling me.

That would be the majority of the top content in DV and DA
