I am currently pondering the following setup

Corsair 2GB DDR2 XMS2-6400C4 TwinX (2x1GB) £69.99 (£82.24)
EVGA GeForce 8800 GTS SuperClocked 320MB GDDR3 £179.99(£211.49)
Intel Core 2 Quad Pro Q6600 2.40GHz (1066FSB) - Retail £149.99 (£176.24)
Asus P5K Deluxe WiFi Intel P35 Motherboard £124.99 (£146.86)
Corsair HX 620W ATX2.2 £74.99 (£88.11)

I would like to hit 3GHz with air cooling, so my questions are, what cooler to suggest and if the ram is good enough to hit that 3GHz. I would prefer a good cooler that is great out of the box and doesn't require lapping, since I have no idea where to start with that, then to have the best cooler around.

My other question is regarding the graphics card, EVGA and BFG have almost same spec and same cost, is there any reason to actually pick one over the other? I know both are great brands, but I would like to know that there is a good customer service behind the company I choose, so which one should it be?

Thank you all for reading this and most of all thanks for taking your time to reply. Thanks in advance

Thanks for the great replies, I was wondering about going for 4Gb ram, but since I will be opting for Win XP for the next 6 months at least I think it would be a bit of a waste, and if need be I can always buy ram at a later date, most likely at a cheaper price.

If I were to give in and go for 4Gb on Win XP, even though it would read 3.5Gb would you reckon it worth it? in both an application scenario like sql server/adobe photoshop/visual studio 2005 and even games?

The Noctua NH-U12F seems a great cooler, I would mount it with another fan in a push pull setting, which should give a slightly better cooling.

Once again thank you for the great replies and looking forward to get more feedback regarding the spec.
