Hi Guy's

My current spec's are as follows...
  • Intel Core i7 920 D0
  • XFX Radeon HD 4870 xXx 1024MB
  • Foxconn Renaissance
  • Antec 900-2
  • Coolermaster Real Power 620w Modular
  • OCZ Gold 6GB (3x2GB) DDR3 Tri Channel
  • Western Digital Caviar Black 640GB
  • Noctua NH-U12P
  • LG GH22NS40 22x DVD±RW
Basically I'm expecting some money late December to January and have allocated up to £3000 for a new system (Obviously don't think I'll spend that much) However my current rig is still pretty impressive and have not noticed any performance issue's other than the hard drive being a little slow.

However for mainly personal taste reasons I want to change most of the components, the Renaissance mobo for example because for a start I would like to run a dual gpu set up but the pci slots are apparantly to close together etc etc...

Okay my plan really is to keep the I7 and get a board that is better designed for overclocking and flog the rest either on ebay or Members market.

So what would you guys recommend? I use my computer for practically everything, photo editing, gaming, music etc etc but want a beast that will keep me happy for another couple of years if possible? I have an O/S and a dell 22" ultra sharp (Though may go for something bigger) But would like a quality keyboard and mouse for gaming...

So guy's what would you go for?

OOo, nice budget :)

If you want pretty much the best X58 board then the ASUS Rampage III Extreme is pretty much it. You can run two graphics cards in the 1st and 3rd slots with both @16x speed, with a nice big gap between them. It is also excellent for overclocking and generally a fantastic board. Obviously rather expensive, but it sounds like it will fit your needs and budget.

Obviously for the graphics card(s) we will have to wait for the new AMD HD 6000 series to arrive before recommending you something.

I would also strongly suggest getting an SSD. The current OCZ Sandforce drives are excellent, as is the Crucial C300. However, sandforce is releasing a new controller and intel are releasing a new generation of drives - both in Q1 2011 - so it would be worth waiting till closer to the time to see what is available and what is best.

As for a new monitor something like the Dell U2711 would be amazing, you could also buy two more 22in IPS dells (assuming you have a 2209WA) and run them in three screen eyefinity/nvidia surround.

For a new keyboard, this mechanical board from Razer looks amazing to me. Or something like the G19 would be very snazzy too.

As for a mouse - the Razer Mamba would be my first choice.

You may also want to consider getting a Blu-Ray drive if you think you can make use of it - this one is a good deal.

Finally, may I ask what sound system you have currently got is?

I actually have an old Creative Inspire P380 2.1 surround set I bought about 6 years ago.... that have just phenominal sound quality! I guess I should upgrade them though at some point!

try a new mobo case and maybe watercooling? keyboard/mouse razer mamba and blackwidow ;) also hard drives if u want HDD go with a spin point or if u want SSD i dont know dont have a clue aboot ssds :(

also for new graphics cards i would say 2 gtx460s or 2 hd5850s

Just cos you have 3k doesnt mean you need to spend it, I'd look at following to start

OcUK Value GeForce GTX 480 1536MB GDDR5 PCI-Express Graphics Card with MAFIA 2 £339.99 (£289.35)
Crucial RealSSD C300 128GB 2.5" SATA 6Gb/s Solid State Hard Drive (CTFDDAC128MAG-1G1) £239.99 (£204.25)
Asus P6X58D-E Intel X58 (Socket 1366) DDR3 Motherboard £144.98 (£123.39)
Total : £724.96

And go from there, theres prob no need for dual gfx atm, if u do need/decide to add a 2nd later youll need a new PSU too, choose whichever kb you like look of and Ill recomend the ever popular MX518 mouse (use it personally)

With 3 grand your gonna have some great options matey, i agree with what folks are saying get a top end mobo that supports multiple GPUs at 16x16x, wait for the best of the 6000 series to hit and stick two of those bad boys in there and your gonna have a beastly system.

Since you have such a shockingly sexy budget getting a nice SSD would be pretty sweet to, go for a revodrive 500+ read and write speeds cant be beat there to other SSDs what SSds are to HDDs :P.

Maybe upgrade the PSU as well depending on what the power consumption for 2x6000 series GPUs are like, tho that probably wont be necessary.
