Spec an ISP.

I am with UK Online who run on the Sky / Easynet network and they are excellent.

I am on the upto 8mb llu package and live 2.3km from the exchange so wasnt expecting great speeds but get the following 24/7:

And pings to most UK Servers are like this:

Code:
Pinging enta.net [195.74.96.162] with 32 bytes of data:

Reply from 195.74.96.162: bytes=32 time=14ms TTL=59
Reply from 195.74.96.162: bytes=32 time=14ms TTL=59
Reply from 195.74.96.162: bytes=32 time=15ms TTL=59
Reply from 195.74.96.162: bytes=32 time=15ms TTL=59

    Packets: Sent = 4, Received = 4, Lost = 0 (0% loss),
Approximate round trip times in milli-seconds:

When I signed upto the Home upto 8mb package they were doing a special deal where the £25 connection fee was free but they dont seem to be doing it anymore although you could always ring up and ask.

Hope this helps, Sam

Here you go mate:

Entanet resellers like ADSL24 - TITANADSL - AQUISS - UKFSN are really good 1 month based isps offering blistering good customer service.

Avoid UKonline like your life depended on it as you can forget low latency gaming on them. Its a postcode lottery whether you get a decent connection or not. I have 2 lines into my house I've got SKY on one, which is the same backbone network as UKonline and the latency times are horrendous. My UKFSN line returns Jolt servers at around 20-25ms, SKY at peak times 130ms + because of the oversubscribed network.

I've been on UKFSN (who are an Entanet reseller) for 2 years now never and I stress never have I had a problem. Uk based support, Enta are constantly increasing bandwidth and there is none of this 'unlimited' crap. You pay for the package you want and latencies are always low plus 1 month contract, not the 12 or 18 month garbage because they give a free modem worth a tenner.

I have to disagree with the above, I regularly read the UK Online forum on adslguide and never hear any complaints of latency issues.

Another vote for an entanet reseller.
am with adsl24 and its very decent.
what also has impressed me is the webspace package that it comes with (lots of bandwidth/php etc) with various online tools to set up things such as mySQL databases, domain redirects ands hotlink protection.
That may be included all the resellers though, I have no idea.

I like Be. Currently Sync'd at 18.9Mb down and 1.3Mb up.

Ping to the IP you listed is as follows:

ADSL24 or Be* if they are available.

Out of interest Triponologist are you Fastpath?

Im currently synced at pretty much identical speeds but getting 24ms pings to that IP, and most others I seem to try.

Yeah, I'm on fastpath.
You should be able to get pretty close to the full 24Mb if you get put on it.
I'm close enough to my exchange that I should be getting the full 24Mb but I'm not sure what they did when they wired my building. I don't even have a master socket in my flat. I'm still quite happy with 18.9Mb though.

As the quote states ADSL24 or Be* but also try TITANADSL heard some good reviews over at dslzone about all of them.

Titan might well be decent, but it's also likely that DSLZoneUK are suffering the same spam as was removed from this forum.
