Spec and Advice, please. :)

Why is that, do you think? Is there a case for Intel over AMD here?
QUOTE]

Firstly, the AMD doesn't really have 8-core's. They re-defined the mean of 'Core' so they could brand thier flagship as an 8-core rather than a Hex-core (which it is really) Its not much different to the Phenom X 6 1090T.

The Bulldozers are Badly threaded (CPU's use cores and threads) that why the 3570k out performs the FX 8150 so dramacitically. The piledrivers have slightly improved on this though, to be close to the 3570k.

Intel win's on most CPU front's as there Processors are threaded well and overclock really well.
Unless the 8350 was £30 cheaper the 3570k is the obvious choice..

Not to mention intels motherboard chipsets are a lot better.

Also, games will never use '8 cores' let alone '4 cores'..

is it not to do with the bulldoser and piledriver cores being inefficiently used? i was told that they didnt perform aswell as the operations carried out by the cores weren't optimised for the bulldosers architecture

I won't be OCing for a while, so I'm cool to get that at a later date, right?

EDIT: That cooler, I mean. Sorry.

It may be easier to get it now even if you don't plan on OCing straight away. It will be quieter than the stock cooler and it will be easier to fit during the initial build rather than in six months time having to strip the computer apart to fit the cooler.

Right. Thanks for the responses, everyone. You've been incredibly helpful.

Just a check before I order:

CPU: Intel Core i5-3570K 3.40GHz (Ivybridge) Socket LGA1155 Processor (77W)
CPU Cooler: Cooler Master Hyper 612S
MB: Gigabyte Z77-D3H Intel Z77 (Socket 1155) DDR3 Motherboard
PSU: XFX Pro 550W Core Edition '80 Plus Bronze' Power Supply
RAM: GeIL EVO Leggera 8GB (2x4GB) DDR3 PC3-12800C9 1600MHz Dual Channel Kit
GPU: Gigabyte ATI Radeon HD 7850 OC Windforce 2X 2048MB GDDR5
SSD: Intel 330 Series 60GB 2.5" SATA 6Gb/s Solid State Hard Drive
HD: Toshiba (7K1000.D) 1TB SATA 6GB/s 32MB Cache - OEM (DT01ACA100) HDD
DVD: Samsung SH-224BB/BEBE 24x DVD±RW SATA ReWriter (Black)
CASE: Corsair Carbide 200R Compact ATX Case - Black
OS: Microsoft Windows 7 Home Premium SP1 64-Bit - OEM (GFC-02050)

Total: £801.38

I had to swap out the Plextor 128GB SSD because it made the total too over budget, but I'm sure the Intel 60GB will do just fine.

What do you guys think? Is it good to go?

looks fine to me

The Xigmatek Asgard 381 only comes with 1 fan and can only take a cooler up to 160mm in height. The True Spirit is a 170mm, so wont fit.
I would stick with the build you have already posted.

Well, then. Moving away from the checkout button...

Thanks for the heads-up, Idleman. Any suggestions?

You are welcome.
But as I said, stick with your original build. The 200R is great little case. If you don`t think a 60gb+ ssd is big enough, I would leave it and just get a 120gb+ at a later date. An ssd is nice to have but I would much rather have a well balanced PC and a decent case now, you can always add to it. An ssd was the last addition to my build. But it is your money and ultimately your decision.

Great. Thanks, Leprechaun312.

Okay, so here it is:

Total: £801.38

Just £1.38 over. :D

All okay now?

EDIT: Yeah, Idleman's right, to be honest. I want the original case. 60GB SSD it is. That's totally fine for now. I've edited the spec to reflect this.

Stick with your first build, better case(200R) and cooler(612S).
But good luck with whatever you decide.
