Spec Check £570 build

A reviewer on a website doesn't test the PSU for months, unlike an end user on a forum ;) I'd go with what the guys here tell you!

Been using a Hiper for the best part of a year, no problems here.

Why are the reviews for the hiper good then? and good everywhere else apart from these forums?

It isn't that the Hiper will definitely be a problem but as mentioned there appears to be rather more of a risk with them than with most of the other high quality PSUs. When the price difference is so little then I'd recommend the Corsair happily because it is based on the same design as the Seasonic M12 (already a very high quality PSU) but apparantly built to even more exacting standards.

Again as mentioned reviewers don't always have as long to test a PSU nor do all reviewers test as thoroughly as they possibly should, some look at the pretty numbers, some do basic tests and some like jonnyguru do it right. To put it simply you can't only test for the ability to meet the voltages, you have to test what happens at the rated voltages and how stable the PSU remains (ripple and other effects which I know little enough about to not try and explain), the Corsair does well as you can see from the review. You don't have to go for it but with the price difference as it is, I would find it hard to recommend what I view as an inferior PSU. :)

Did ocuk get a duff bunch of hiper psu's because the only place i have heard about them being bad is here, and everywhere else praises them?

Well the chances are that you won't get a duff PSU. It's only a minority that come on here and say it died - the only reason you don't get to hear the praise whent things don't go wrong, is that if something works, you're not exactly going to come on here and post "OMG It works!" :p

So if you really want that PSU then get it, it should be fine. BUT, from the few experiences here, don't be suprised if it dies and takes your system with it... :p

IMO not worth the risk, something like that puts me off... no matter how uncommon the problem is :)

It is a pretty good PSU and up until the release of the Corsairs would have been one of the brands I'd have picked out of about 4 (Enermax, Seasonic, Tagan and FSP would all have been amongst the first few to my mind). Why couldn't you still go for the Corsair though? It seems to be in stock. :)
