My PC is a bit on the old side and probably won't last much longer as it is. I have some spare money, so it's time for a new toy.
I'm planning on using my current drives as they're fine and my current graphics card (7950 at 1.0/1.4, which is still OK for 1080) at least until I see what's what with 10xx and 4xx cards. I'll ask MS nicely if I can transfer my current Windows licence to the new motherboard, which is arguably a replacement, so no need for a new OS licence at this point. I could keep the case, but it's a cheap old box and a bit of a pain to work in so I'm thinking of getting a cheap new box instead.
Sensible budget limit is ~£500 for the remaining bits, but I don't feel any need to spend to budget. If I can get something good enough for less than my current ideas, I will.
I was going to say that I don't intend overclocking, which is true but probably won't remain true The last CPU I had that I didn't overclock was a 386.
I'd prefer to have OcUK build it because I no longer enjoy doing so. I dislike it enough to pay someone else to do it.
I'm rather out of date on things since my default position on hardware has changed from "want new things!" to "what I've got will do well enough", so this is an initial idea and not fixed.
My basket at Overclockers UK:
Total: £486.19
(includes shipping: £12.30)
I'm also considering a config on the OcUK Kinetic H1, which would include the cost of paying OcUK to build it.
