Hey, getting a new gaming rig with my xmas bonus, just wondering what you guys think about it. Got W7 on the way so dont need an OS.

Still need a cpu cooler as im not entirely sure whats any good. I may dabble in a bit of OC in the future aswell. Im in need of some new 120mm fans for my Antec 900, preferably something quiet as the standard ones are too loud! My saitek ecplise packed in the other day, so a nice new keyboard is needed, nothing too fancy! Any other ways for me to save a bit of money would be ace aswell! :)

Cheers, Vice.

For cpu coolers you can't go wrong with an arctic cooling freezer 7 pro rev2.
I'd imagine that on that mobo your overclocking would be quite limited, although I'm not 100% sure. Keyboard, depends on budget really but the logitech g15 is very popular. Same goes for fans, can't go wrong with noctua, be quiet, fractal design and a few others. Keep them under 20dB and they are barely audible.

Thanks dude, ive added couple of fractal design fans and the arctic cooling freezer 7. Still undecided on a keyboard though. What mobo would you guys recomend thats a bit better for OC and is everything else okay in my suggested spec?

Cheers, Vice.

This is a good board although it is £45 more expensive.
If you can't stretch to that, then maybe have a look at this. MSI P55 boards have a thing called ocgenie, which means you basically push one button and it overclocks your cpu for you.

Considering im only gaming at 1440*900 atm due to my monitor, would it be worthwhile downgrading the gfx card to a 5770 and getting a better mobo?

Im quite interested in the ocgenie, what do poeple think about it?

Cheers, Vice.

i would keep the graphics card as it is, as it would possibily be easier to upgrade your monitor later, however, if you did get a 5770, you could then get another later on :)

Im assuming the 5850 will fit into my antec 900? i think ill have to remove one off the hdd cages though, can anybody confirm this for me?

It's 10.5" long, it fits into my new case (NZXT Lexa S) I believe, which is smaller than the 900, so you shouldn't have any issues :)

Awesome, you planning on a build log? (Also, have to let me know what that PSU is like, I'm planning on getting the exact same one ;))

Didnt plan on it but ill see how it goes :p , its my first time doing a full build so ill be taking it nice and easy lol. Yeh ill let you know what i think about the psu.

In the rush of ordering i relised i forgot to get some stuff for cable management , need to nip to the pc shop before thursday!
